Early Life and Music Roots
HweMonga comes from Uzumba in Murewa District, Zimbabwe, where his family’s roots are in Chimbwanda Village. He went to Rusununguko Primary School in Mufakose and later to St Johns Chikwaka Mission. From a young age, he was surrounded by music in his family. His uncle, Godfrey Musandirire, played the mbira, and his father, Isiah Nyatsine Musandirire, played the acoustic guitar. These early experiences sparked his love for music and helped shape his life and career. Over time, this passion grew into his unique musical identity blending African sounds with global influences to create HweMonga, a sound that brings people together through one sound, many cultures, one world.
